"GT's" latest

Dear {{first_name | friend}},

All well?

This compilation of “GT” Insight Bites is a good read thanks to the four high-quality responses from Pham Phi AnhK Michael HaywoodAllan Michaud, and John Morris Williams. Plus, in a BiteX, Dr David Beirman posits that academia has drifted away from reality on sustainable tourism.

Read what they have to say, and make comment if you wish. Duncan Simpson has.

And in case you’ve missed something since the start of the year, check out the Jan-Feb wrap of “GT” goodness at ‘What is good tourism? “Good Tourism” & “GT” Travel January-February 2026’.

Here's a new Bites Q for your consideration:

Who has the ‘social license’ to claim a place has changed for the worse? Does it matter if that change is driven by tourist visas, employment visas, or permanent migration?

Is ‘nostalgia’ a valid stakeholder in a destination’s future? And does travel & tourism have a responsibility to validate these feelings, or is change simply the price of ‘progress’?

Deadline open/TBD. As usual for Bites, the word limit is 300. (If that's not enough, or even if it is, please include links to supporting references in your copy. You might also consider pitching a full "GT" Insight if you have a lot to say.)

To be featured in the upcoming "GT" Insight Bites compilation, send by reply to this email no more than (</=) 300 words in response to the question above, along with a picture of you, and what you do for work or study. (For more depth, you can and should link to references and sources).

If that question is not of interest to you, check out this open invitation.

There are only a SELECT FEW "GT" Partnership spots available to organisations that wish to support my work. I neither need nor ask for much, which means there is tremendous value on offer. If you sincerely appreciate what I do, please be in touch.

THANK YOU for being a "Good Tourism" reader, and for helping to build the "GT" network through your likes, shares, comments, reviews, and recommendations. It all helps "GT" find more readers, writers, and thinkers like you; curious and open-minded with more than a superficial interest in travel & tourism ...

"GT" doesn't judge. "GT" publishes. "GT" is where free thought travels.

Be well. Do good.

Sincerely,

David Gillbanks
